FARMERS TELEPHONE COOPERATIVE, (FTC) INC. RAISES 500 POUNDS OF CANNED FOOD ITEMS FOR NEEDY (1.22.09)

January 22, 2009, Kingstree, S.C. – Representatives from Farmers Telephone Cooperative, (FTC) Inc. today announced that the company raised 500 pounds of nonperishable canned food items in the month of December for Harvest Hope Food Bank and Lowcountry Food Bank. The items were collected through customer contributions associated with the FTC “Holiday Giftaway” promotion.

All 500 pounds raised by FTC, as with all donations given to Harvest Hope Food Bank and Lowcountry Food Bank, will be dispersed to in-need residents in the Pee Dee region.

The canned food drive was part of the FTC “Holiday Giftaway” promotion, which was held at all FTC locations from December 15 through December 31. The FTC locations that participated in accepting nonperishable canned food items included Sumter, Kingstree, Bishopville, Lake City, Manning and Johnsonville.

“We are very appreciative of the support and giving spirit that FTC customers displayed during the Christmas season to help their neighbors who are in-need,” said Brad Erwin, CEO of FTC. “With our stores having more foot traffic during December due to the ‘Holiday Giftaway’ promotion, it was an excellent time to help make a difference in our community by partnering with both Harvest Hope Food Bank and Lowcountry Food Bank. Even though the holidays are now over, we strongly encourage everyone to continue to support these charities in any capacity that is possible.”
