FTC DEBUTS NEW FTC-SPECIFIC TELEVISION CHANNEL (5.13.10)

May 13, 2010, Kingstree, S.C. – Representatives from Farmers Telephone Cooperative, (FTC) Inc. today announced the addition of a new television channel to their FTC Vision service, FTC Now. The channel debuted May 3 and is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

FTC Now, which resides on channel 26, features hyper-local content relevant to FTC customers. The shows and segments on FTC Now focus on the cities, people, places, businesses and history of the FTC service area. Shows on FTC Now are hosted by Kingstree-area resident Mark Roberts and focus on Williamsburg, Lee, Sumter, Clarendon and Florence counties.

“We are excited to announce the addition of FTC Now to our Vision product and line up,” said Brad Erwin, CEO of FTC. “With FTC Now, Vision customers have specific and relevant television outlets that directly relate to them and their communities. It is our hope that this channel will grow to become a trusted source which FTC Vision customers can count on to provide them with information pertinent to FTC and the areas in which we all live."

A state-of-the-art IPTV (Internet protocol television) digital video service, FTC Vision is FTC’s latest addition to a complete array of entertainment, information, security and communications products and services. The new service provides FTC customers with more channels, features and a more enhanced viewing experience than traditional cable television.

IPTV is a digital television service that has signal delivered using Internet Protocol over a network infrastructure instead of being delivered through traditional broadcast and cable formats. Only the content the subscriber requests is streamed to the home, and, as a result, channel capacity is virtually unrestricted. A true value of the service is increased content and functionality, including personalization and the opportunity for future interactivity.
