Jane's Grits Casserole


Prepare grits according to package instructions. Add butter. Mix in cream of celery soup. Sauté sausage until well done, drain and mix in to grits. Add 1 cup of cheese, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well. Pour into 13x9" baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 350º until cheese melts and grits are bubbly.

Notes: If grits appear to be too thick, thin them with a little water or milk before adding the other ingredients


  • 4 cups cooked quick (not instant) grits
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 lb mild sausage 
  • 1 1/4 cups sharp cheddar cheese 
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
